3,252 register for Job Fair at FX College
Even as over 17,000 jobs will be available for the candidates with the qualification of SSLC and above in the job fair to be conducted by the Tirunelveli district administration on 28th November, 2010 at FX Engineering College, Palayamkottai, only 3,252 candidates have so far come forward to participate in the event.
District Collector M. Jayaraman said 56 companies, which would offer more than 17,000 vacancies, had confirmed their participation.
Candidates in the age group of 18 – 35, who had completed SSLC, Plus Two, ITI courses (fitter, turner, machinist, welder, motor mechanic, diesel mechanic and other trades), diploma (mechanical, electrical, automobile and other branches), engineering (mechanical, electrical, electronics, computer, chemical, production, instrumentation, automobile and other branches of BE) and any degree (B.Com., M.Com., C.A. and I.C.W.A.) could participate in the job fair after registering online at the website www.nellai.tn.nic.in on or before 27th November, 2010 and bring the registration acknowledgement cards to the fair.
Range of Vacancies
Candidates will be selected for a range of vacancies including machine operator, fitter, turner, machinist, driver, tinker, painter, carpenter, mason, salesman, plumber, welder, storekeeper, technician, electrician, supervisor, CNC operator, plastic processing machine operator, power press operator, system analyst, warehouse operator, motor mechanic, demonstrator, junior engineer, diploma trainees, front office assistant, housekeeping assistant, data entry operators, sales promoters, retail salesman, embroidery trainees, fork lift operator, maintenance engineer, accountants, processor, trade apprentice, company apprentice etc.
“A minimum of 320 engineers, 700 graduates, 1,025 diploma-holders, 2,850 ITI certificate holders, 7,170 candidates with SSLC and Plus Two qualifications will be selected.
Those who cannot match the stipulated standards of the recruiting companies will be given training,” said Dr. Jayaraman.
When the registration for the job fair was done at the Collectorate on Thursday, a good number of candidates had turned up.
“Apart from this, they can also register through the net cafés and block development offices in the 19 blocks of the district.
The Employment Office seniority of the successful candidates will continue to remain the same though they get selected for a job in this mela,” the Collector assured adding that all participating companies had promised to offer decent salary to the selected candidates.
