Good response to FACT Courses
Fertilizers and Chemicals Training Centre, a Fertilizers and Chemicals Travancore Ltd. (FACT) unit, is receiving good response to the courses it is offering as part of the company’s efforts to utilise its experienced manpower to impart skill development programmes to young people in the State.
The three-month certificate courses in instrumentation maintenance and heavy equipment operation and the one-year diploma course in fire and safety engineering have evoked good response, said an official of the company.
The first batch for the Fire and Safety Engineering course was launched in September 2008, for which a total of 218 eligible candidates applied and 44 were admitted to the course.
In the following year, 110 eligible applications were received and 30 were admitted to the course.
Admission process is on for the 2010 September batch, said the official.The Instrumentation Maintenance course too has been a big draw.
The June 2010 batch saw 66 applicants of which 25 were admitted.
The FACT official said that students who have been trained at the FACT centre have been selected by various industries in India and abroad while some of those who went through the Instrumentation Course chose to teach.
