Cash Awards for State Toppers

D. Ranjeeth, who was a student of Gopal Naidu Matriculation Higher Secondary secured State first rank under the differently abled category in higher secondary examination held in March 2012, received cash award from Chief Minster Jayalalithaa at a function held on Teachers’ Day at Chennai. Ranjeeth, who had scored 1117 / 1200 in the examination was presented a cash award of [rupee] 50,000.

State Second Rank :

R. Gowath Karthik of the same school who secured State second rank by scoring 1042 marks received cash award of [rupee] 30,000.

According to C.K. Amrithavalli, mother of Ranjeeth who is also the headmistress of Kasthurba Gandhi Oral School for Hearing Impaired, they moved from Erode to Coimbatore as the city had better education facilities for differently abled.

“Ranjeeth had hearing impairments from birth, but underwent training in speech therapy. When we saw the improvement, we sent him to a regular school where the teachers gave him special attention,” she said.

Both the students are now pursuing mechanical engineering course at P.S.G. Institute of Technology.
