In continuation of the efforts to oppose the Government’s decision to transfer Government College of Technology to Anna University, Coimbatore, as its constituent college, the staff and students have decided to stage a series of protests.
After a sit-in protest and a fax sent to the Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi they have decided on these measures, according to college sources.
Federation
The staff and students have formed a federation that has decided on the next phase of action.
According to U.M. Selvaraj, State President of the Technical Staff Association and a technical staff at the college, the staff and students will wear black badge on February 25.
“We will continue this by staging an hour’s dharna in the
college premises on March 3. We will observe a fast on March 8 at Gandhipuram,” he said.
A senior staff member observed that there seemed to be a lull with nobody telling them anything.
The desired response from the Chief Minister was also not forthcoming. Hence, they have decided to continue with the agitation.
