Free Skill Training at Government Polytechnic

The Government Polytechnic College is offering free skill training to youth under the ‘Community Development through Polytechnics’ project of the Ministry of Human Resources Development.

According to a release from college principal S. Padmini, those below poverty line and unable to pursue education, and rural youth, are eligible to apply for these courses.

The courses range from two weeks to six months.

Paper bag making, and preservation of vegetables and fruits, for men and women will be offered as two-week courses. Doll making ( women ), preparation of bakery products ( men and women ), and food processing and preservation ( men and women ), cell phone service ( men ), CNC programming ( men ), and coir bag making ( men and women ), are offered as a one-month course. Coir mat making for men and women will be a two-month course. Computer course for men and women is offered as a three-month course, a maintenance and repair of electrical appliances course, and another one on wiring, for men are also offered as three-month courses.

Tailoring and embroidery for women is offered as a six-month course.

Details

Training in tailoring and embroidery is also being offered to women in the extension centres in Arasur, Irugur, Kalappatti, Pattanam, and Kalangal. On course completion, participants will be a given a Government certificate.
