Decision on SSC, HSC Exam Fee Hike deferred

The general board of Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board ( GSHSEB ) has decided to put on hold the proposal for a 20% hike in fee for SSC and HSC students’ upcoming board examinations.

Board members decided that they would first discuss the proposal at length and then take a decision at the next general board meeting. If the board approves the 20% hike, the board will earn an additional [rupee] 10 crore every year. Sources said the board hasn’t revised the examination fees for SSC and HSC students since 2006.

Meanwhile, the general board cleared the proposal for charging [rupee] 100 as penalty from an examiner for a mistake of one mark while correcting an HSC science stream paper and [rupee] 50 for one-mark mistake in the correction of HSC general stream and SSC papers.
