Colleges Barred from taking part in Admission Process

A high power committee functioning in Higher Education department has barred 11 junior colleges from taking part in admission process for the academic session of 2011 – 12.

Seven of 11 junior colleges are located in and around the capital city while two colleges are from Ganjam districts and one college each from Puri and Dhenkanal district.

“High power committee had taken review of facilities available in junior colleges in the State. There is no single general reason behind restricting these colleges from participating in the admission. There could be inadequate faculty members, laboratories and other infrastructure for which the decision was taken,” said Anirudh Rout, Special Secretary in Higher Education department.

In a notification issued on 23rd June, 2011, the department directed to remove the names of these colleges from Students Academic Management System – the software for online admission.

The notification says Jay Krushna College, Tamando, Bhubaneswar College of Computer Science and Technology, Bhubaneswar, IRODOV College of Science, Chandrasekharpur, Kalinga College of Commerce, Samantarapur, New Star Science College, Kedargouri, The New Age College, Suryanagar and Trivendi Academy Science College, Ganganagar in the capital city can no more take students for the academic session.

Other colleges include Vidyarthi Residential (Junior) College Kunjakanta in Dhenkanal district, Sai Baladev Jew Mahila (junior) Mahabidyalaya, Baguda, and Supriya Junior College, Bhaliagada in Ganjam district and Regional (junior) College of Science and Technology, Nimapara in Puri district.

Meanwhile, Higher Education department has come out a notification announcing key dates for Plus Two e-admission for all junior colleges including self financing (junior) colleges in the State.

The Board of Secondary Education is going to publish results of annual matriculation examination 25th June, 2011.

Higher Education department is readying to complete admission process into Plus Two classes by August 29 this year. After results of Standard X is announced on Saturday, passed out students would have to submit application for various colleges before 9th July, 2011. The first selection list will be out on 22nd July, 2011 while admission of first selection applicants will take place between 29th July, 2011 and 3rd August, 2011.
