The teams would have to present a concept note on varied projects before September 20, said Ravi Shah, chairman, iTalent 2007 and vice president, Tata Consultancy Services. An expert committee would evaluate the project proposals based on criteria such as innovation, practicality and relevance to industries. Selective teams would be asked to present a detailed project report by mid-December.
Organised by the CII Southern Region, a total of 484 students from 66 colleges participated in the last year's edition. Five leading IT companies were recruiting at the event and 543 letters of intent were issued, he said emphasizing that the idea was to get sub-urban and semi-urban institutes into the "employability loop". The final event, to be held in the second week of February, would have both team and individual contests. The top five winning teams would be awarded cash prizes starting at Rs 75,000 and ending at Rs 10,000. Apart from the trophy for the top three winning institutes, the academic mentors of the top three teams would be given appreciation awards.
