Indian Institute of Mass Communication to start Entrance Exams 2012

The Indian Institute of Mass Communication ( IIMC ) under the Union government has invited applications for entrance examinations to be held on 21st May, 2012 at various centres, including Kochi, Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, and New Delhi, for admission to its courses commencing in August.

Postgraduate diploma course in journalism ( English ) : The course is offered at the IIMC centres in New Delhi, Dhenkanal ( Orissa ), Amravati ( Maharashtra ), Aizawl ( Mizoram ), Jammu, and Kottayam. There are 184 seats. The course fee is [rupee] 46,000.

Postgraduate diploma course in journalism ( Hindi ) : New Delhi centre; 62 seats; [rupee] 46,000 course fee.

Postgraduate diploma course in radio and television journalism : New Delhi centre; 46 seats; [rupee] 92,000 fee.

Postgraduate diploma course in advertising and public relations : New Delhi centre; 70 seats; [rupee] 64,000 course fee.

Postgraduate diploma course in journalism ( Oriya ) : Dhenkanal centre, 23 seats, [rupee] 26,000 course fee. The entrance examination for this course will be held on 22nd May, 2012 only in Bhubaneswar.

Eligibility 

The qualification required for joining the courses is a degree in any discipline. Those who have appeared, or are appearing, in the final – year degree examination may also apply. Applicants should have been born on or after 1st August, 1987, relaxed by five years for those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes and for the physically – challenged and by three years for Other Backward Castes.

Application

For applying online, download the application form from www.iimc.gov.in. The filled – in form, along with a demand draft for [rupee] 1,200 ( [rupee] 1,100 for reserved sections ) drawn in favour of the Registrar, IIMC, New Delhi, and true copies of relevant documents, should be sent to the Registrar, Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Aruna Asaf Ali Marg, New Delhi – 110 067, so as to reach there on or before 20nd April, 2012.

There are separate application forms and entrance examinations for the courses in radio and television journalism and advertising and public relations. The forms and examinations are common for the courses in journalism, English, and Hindi.
