IIPS Mumbai Admission 2018 Eligibility

Master of Arts / Science in Population Studies

  • Admission to this course is open to all candidates having B.A. / B.Sc. Degree ( passed / appearing ) in Anthropology, Economics, Geography, Health Statistics, Mathematics, Political Science, Psychology, Rural Development, Social Work, Sociology and Statistics from a recognized university in India or abroad with a minimum of 55% of aggregate marks / equivalent grade.
  • Eligible foreign candidates can also apply for admission provided if they secure financial support from any outside agency.
  • Candidates who have already passed the qualifying degree examinations and those who have already appeared / shall be appearing in the final qualifying examinations are eligible to apply.
  • However, the admission of the candidate will be cancelled, if she / he fails to furnish final result by 30th September, 2018.
  • The upper age limit is 25 years as on 30th June, 2018. Marks and age will be relaxed for candidates belonging to reserved categories and female candidates as per Government of India rules only.

Master of Science in Biostatistics and Demography

  • Admission to this course is open to all candidates having B.A. / B.Sc. Degree ( passed / appearing ) in Bio-statistics or Health Statistics or Mathematics or Statistics or having B.A. / B.Sc. degree with two full papers on Mathematics or Statistics from a recognized university in India or abroad with a minimum of 55% of aggregate marks / equivalent grade in all subjects.
  • Eligible foreign candidates can also apply for admission provided they secure financial support from any outside agency.
  • Candidate who have already passed the qualifying examinations and those who have already appeared / shall be appearing in the final qualifying examinations are eligible to apply.
  • However, admission of the candidate will be cancelled if he / she fails to furnish the final examination result by 30th September, 2018.

Master of Population Studies

  • Admission to this course is open to all candidates having MA / MSc. degree ( passed / appearing ) in Anthropology, Bio-statistics, Economics, Geography, Health Statistics, Mathematics, Political Science, Population Education, Psychology, Rural Development, Social Work, Sociology, and Statistics from a recognized university in India or abroad with a minimum of 55% of aggregate marks / equivalent grade.
  • Candidates having Master degree, other than subjects specified above and having at least two years of experience in Population and Health related field are also eligible to apply. Eligible foreign candidates can also apply for admission provided if they secure financial support from any outside agency.
  • Candidates who have already passed the qualifying degree examinations and those who have already appeared/ shall be appearing in the final qualifying examinations are eligible to apply. However, the admission of the candidate will be cancelled, if she / he fails to furnish final result by 30th September, 2018.
  • The upper age limit of application is 28 years as on 30th June, 2018. Marks and age will be relaxed for candidates belonging to reserved categories and female candidates as per Government of India rules
    only.

Master of Philosophy in Population Studies / Bio-statistics & Demography

  • Admission to this course is open to all candidates having Master’s degree in Population Studies / Demography / Bio-statistics and Demography / Bio-statistics and Epidemiology / Bio-statistics ( passed / appearing ) with at least 55% of a marks or equivalent grade.
  • Eligible foreign candidates can also apply for admission provided they secure financial support from any outside agency. Candidate who have already passed the qualifying examinations and those who have already appeared / shall be appearing in the final qualifying examinations are eligible to apply.
  • However, admission of the candidate will be cancelled if she / he fails to furnish the final examination result by 30th September, 2018.

Integrated M.Phil. and Ph.D. in Population Studies / Bio-statistics & Demography

  • Admission to this course is open to all candidates having Master’s degree in Population Studies / Demography / Bio-statistics and Demography / Bio-statistics and Epidemiology / Bio-statistics ( passed / appearing ) with at least 55% of a marks or equivalent grade.
  • Students who have qualified UGC / CSIR-JRF or any other national level fellowship are encouraged to apply for this programme. Eligible foreign candidates can also apply for admission provided they secure financial support from any outside agency.
  • Candidate who have already passed the qualifying examinations and those who have already appeared / shall be appearing in the final qualifying examinations are eligible to apply.

Doctor of Philosophy in Population Studies / Biostatistics & Demography

  • Candidates having Ph.D. degree in Population Studies or subjects related with Population, Health, Gender, and Development are eligible to apply. Eligible foreign candidates can also apply for admission, provided they secure financial support from any outside agency. Female candidates are encouraged to apply for the P.D.F
  • The upper
    age limit is 40 years as on 30th June, 2017.

M.A. Population Studies

  • Admission to this course is open to all those with a Bachelor’s degree in any social science subject / Health / Maths / Stats or any similar degree recognized by Indian / Foreign universities with 50 percentage marks for general candidates and 45 percentage marks for the candidates belonging to SC / ST / OBC and PWD category.
  • Candidates having master’s degree and also those who are having work experience will be given due weightage. The cut off percentage can further be reduced by the admission committee for candidates with any additional qualifications.
  • Reservation criteria will be followed as per the Government of India norms. After successfully completing all academic requirements given in the guidelines, the registered distance learner will be awarded degree of “M.A. Population Studies” irrespective of any discipline he / she come from graduate level.

How to apply

  • The Application Form can be be downloaded from IIPS website http://iipsindia.org.
  • Last date for submission of application form is 20th March, 2018.
  • All candidates are required to send hard copy of the online application form and all supporting documents to the following address on or before 26th March, 2018.

Application fee

  • The non-refundable processing fees are ₹1000/- for General category, ₹500/- for OBC ( Non- Creamy Layer ) category and ₹250/- for SC / ST / PWD category.

IIPS Mumbai Admission 2018 Selection Process

Master of Arts / Science in Population Studies

  • The selection will be made on the basis of an Online Test across India. The Online Entrance Test will comprise objective type questions of multiple choices.
  • The syllabus of Entrance Test will consist of basic general knowledge, logical reasoning, English grammar, basic mathematics, population, health, and social science issues.
  • The test venue will be notified in the Admit Card. Admission test will not be conducted for the foreign candidates and admission will be offered directly if foreign candidates fulfill the eligibility criteria of the Institute.

Master of Science in Biostatistics and Demography

  • The selection will be made on the basis of an Online Test.
  • The Online Entrance Test will comprise objective type questions of multiple choices.
  • The syllabus of Entrance Test will consist of basic General Knowledge, Logical Reasoning, English Grammar, Population, Health and Statistics / Mathematics.
  • The test venue will be notified in the Admit Card.
  • Admission test will not be conducted for the foreign candidates and the admission will be offered directly if the foreign candidates fulfil the eligibility criteria of the Institute.

Master of Population Studies

  • The admission to M.P.S. course is through a two-stage process
    • Online Test,
    • Personal Interview.
  • The Online Entrance Test will comprise objective type questions of multiple choices. The syllabus of Entrance Test will consist of Basic General Knowledge, Logical Reasoning, English Grammar, Basic Mathematics, Population, Health and Social Science issues.
  • The test venue will be notified in the Admit Card. Based on the performance in the Online Test, shortlisted candidates will be called for personal interview at IIPS.
  • Final selection will be based on the weighted average of scores of Online Test and personal interview.

  • Candidates should apply online. However, they are required to send a hard copy of comprehensive research proposal to the Institute.
  • Selection will be made based on the proposal presentation and Interview.
  • Foreign students are exempted from personal interview.
  • The Institute shall not bear travel expense of the candidates called for the presentation and interview.

M.A. Population Studies

  • Selection of candidates for the course will be done by a selection committee duly constituted by the Director of the Institute.
