Kannur University conducts Ph.D Entrance Examination

The entrance examination for Ph.D. applicants of Kannur University will be held on 10th December, 2011 on the Kannur University campus at Mangattuparamba at 10.30 a.m.

Those who have not received the hall tickets should contact the Kannur University office before 8th December, 2011.

Kannur University invites Scholarship Applications

Kannur University has invited applications from eligible candidates who have joined postgraduate, M.Phil. or Ph.D. programmes under the Kannur University to be selected for the Aspire Scholarship scheme.

According to a press release, selected students would get an opportunity to interact with reputed researchers associated with national – level institutions.

A scholarship amount of ₹ 4,000 for internship / project in the Kerala State and ₹ 5,000 for internship / project outside the Kerala State would be granted for a minimum period of one month and maximum period of four months.

The Kannur University aspire scholarship application should be submitted to the Kannur University registrar by 30th November, 2011. Details are available on the Kannur University website on www.kannuruniversity.ac.in.

Seminars to be conducted in Kannur University Affiliated Colleges

A series of college – level seminars will be conducted in all colleges affiliated to the Kannur University as a precursor to a national seminar on higher education being held here on December 13, 14 and 15, 2011, under the joint auspices of the Kannur University Union and the Kannur University Research Centre.

A press release issued by the Kannur University Public Relations Officer here on November 9, 2011 said the decision to hold college – level seminars was taken at a meeting of college union office – bearers held on the Kannur University campus at Mangattuparamba.

The three – day seminar to be held on the Kannur University campus in December would be attended by CPI ( M ) Polit Bureau member Sitaram Yechuri, K.N. Panikkar, Prabhat Patnaik, Venkatesh Athreya and G. Madhavan Nair.

The students who wish to participate in the Kannur University seminar should register their names by paying ₹ 300. For others, the registration fee is ₹ 500. Online registration facility can be accessed at www.nshe2011.org.

University to Honour with D.Litt.

The Syndicate of Kannur University will take follow – up measures to confer honorary D.Litt. degrees on K. Madhavan, freedom fighter; K. Raghavan, musician; and K.P.P. Nambiar, who, as the first Chairman and Managing Director of KELTRON and the brain behind the Electronics Research and Development Corporation of Kerala, helped the State’s technological and industrialisation initiatives and played a role in the transformation of electronics in India.

A university release on the decisions of the Syndicate said the follow – up was necessary as the Chancellor had approved the Syndicate’s decision to confer the honorary degrees on them.

The Syndicate decided to start a basic course on human rights at Pazhassi Raja NSS College at Mattannur; M.Tech. in power electronics and drives and advanced manufacturing and mechanical systems design at the Government Engineering College here; and an M.Tech. course in communication and signal processing at the Government Engineering College, Mananthavady.

The Syndicate approved the University Grants Commission regulations on teachers’ recruitment and eligibility. It was decided to amend the university statute for entrusting recruitment of teachers to the Public Service Commission.
