4,800 appear for Literacy Examination
As many as 4,800 people appeared for an examination as part of the ‘Vigyan Jyothi Aksharotsavam’ literacy drive to impart primary education to those in the age group of 18 – 50 years.
In the third phase of the programme arranged by the Local Self – Government Department, district panchayat president P.P. Shyamala Devi inaugurated the scheme by distributing question papers at Povval Mappila Upper Primary School, near Mul6iyar, Kerala on 11th March, 2012.
State Literacy Mission Assistant Director Ayyappan Nair explained the details of the examination. The district had 171 examination centres, where papers in Kannada and Malayalam were issued to the candidates.
The results of the examination will be announced on 18th April, 2012. Kasaragod is expected to be declared as the second district in the State, after Kannur, to achieve cent percent primary education.
A total of 4,810 candidates qualified in the written examination in the second phase last year.
