Admission Counselling begins at Madurai Meenakshi Government College

Admission counselling for the academic year 2012 – 2013 began at Sri Meenakshi Government College for Women on 21st June, 2012.

A whopping number of over 7,000 applications have been received this year for admission to various undergraduate courses. The admission process began with special counselling meant for students coming under ex – servicemen, physically challenged and sports quota categories. S. Sethurakkayee, Principal In – charge, said that counselling for special quota was held for all UG courses as per State government norms. Regular counselling would take place from 22nd June, 2012 to 27th June, 2012.

There was a huge demand for B.Com., B.Sc. ( Computer Science ), and B.A. ( English ) courses. “The first round of counselling is for those girls who scored 550 marks out of 800 marks in the four subjects in Plus Two. The second round on 28th June, 2012 and 29th June, 2012 would be for science and arts groups.”

Totally 10,000 applications were sold for UG courses of which 7,000 were received by Meenakshi College. For B.Com., with 120 seats in two shifts ( morning and evening ), the college received 1,580 applications. Rank list was prepared based on quota guidelines.

Government Arts College in Melur also has geared up for admission counselling which begins with special quota admissions on 22nd June, 2012. For B.Sc. courses, the counselling will be held on 25th June, 2012, and for B.Com. on 27th June, 2012.
