Mangalore University introduces NanoTechnology Course

Mangalore University has proposed to start a post-graduation course in NanoTechnology, a fast emerging multi-disciplinary field, from the 2008-09 academic year.

It has also planned to introduce post-graduation courses in renewable energy and in banking and insurance from the next academic year, according to sources in the university. The University Syndicate, at its recent meeting, approved the proposal to start M.Sc. courses in NanoTechnology and renewable energy. Now, the university is set to prepare the syllabi and regulations governing these courses.

The NanoTechnology course will be offered by the Department of Material Science while the University Science Instrumentation Centre (USIC) will offer the course in renewable energy. The University Grants Commission may soon sanction Rs. 39 lakh for five years to the university to start the course in banking and insurance. It will be offered by the Department of Economics.
