MEPMA to provide Training and Jobs to Youth
The Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas ( MEPMA ) has set a target to train and provide guaranteed jobs to 1.5 lakh youth during 2012 year through various institutes.
After a review at Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation Visakhapatnam, MEPMA Managing Director M. Bhupal Reddy told reporters on November 14, 2011 MEPMA now they had tied up with 28 training and placement agencies. He said as per the agreements reached with them, training and jobs would be provided to 40,000 youth having basic education by March 2012.
As part of the MEPMA Institute target, 18,000 will get training and placement by December. Stating that the training programme started about three months ago, he said now the entire programme was implemented under Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu.
Tie – up had been made with NIIT, APITCO, CMC and other reputed institutes for imparting training and providing guaranteed jobs.
Mr. Reddy said for creating 40,000 jobs through various institutes with MEPMA acting as the facilitator, 25 per cent funding would be provided by the State Government and the remaining by the Centre.
Certificates to the trainees will be awarded by IGNOU, Education Corporation of India Ltd, Micro, National Institute of Small, Medium Scale Enterprises and other organisations. University of Wales had also agreed to issue certificates, he stated.
For eligible candidates training will be provided from 45 to 90 days in computers, hotel management, marketing, survey, storekeeping, auto cad, telemarketing, finance and accounts, refrigeration and air – conditioning. MEPMA eligible candidates and outsiders will get stipend.
Mr. Reddy said they had identified cities and towns in two categories with a population of three lakh and above and one to three lakh for construction of houses to the slum – dwellers under Rajiv Awas Yojana ( RAY ). MEPMA Project Director T. Praveena and RAY in – charge M.N.A. Patrudu were present.
