MIT launches Postgraduate Course

K. Ramnarayan, Vice-Chancellor of Manipal University, inaugurated on Monday a postgraduate course in Environmental Engineering at the Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), a constituent of the university, here.

Dr. Ramnarayan asked the first batch of students to set a benchmark for prospective students.

Registrar of the university G.K. Prabhu, in-charge Director of MIT Radhakrishna S Aithal and Head of Civil Engineering at MIT Gicy M. Kovoor were present.

Minister for Environment and Ports J. Krishna Palemar, who was to inaugurate the course, could not attend the function as he had to leave for Bangalore.

The postgraduate course in Environmental Engineering is stated to be an inter-disciplinary programme, designed to develop environmental engineers familiar with current and emerging issues relating to the subject.

It can help in enhancing research activities in the field. The course is open to engineering graduates of all disciplines.

Job opportunities exist in all areas of environmental protection as there is a huge demand for environmental engineers in the industrial sector.
