Vacation Training for Students

Chennai – based M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation is conducting a vacation training program for 30 students from Kakinada from 18th April, 2011 to 11th May, 2011.

Those who complete Class X this year are eligible to participate in the program.

A senior scientist of the foundation’s local office, R. Ramasubramanian, in a statement here on 18th March, 2011, said that during the training the students would learn about a variety of topics such as biotechnology, microbiology, molecular biology, and biodiversity conservation.

Field visits to biodiversity hot spots in the State, interactive sessions with experts in the field, and hands on exposure to some of the techniques in biotechnology in the foundation’s laboratory at Chennai would help students gain an in – depth knowledge in the subjects, he said.

Field Trips

Mr. Ramasubramanian said the workshop would be conducted in the foundation’s Chennai office and would include a few field trips, and the medium of instruction would be English.

Applications / nominations of students from schools could be sent to the following address on or before 31st March, 2011.

Students must enclose their bio – data, bona fide certificate from the school, and a one – page note on the reason for desiring to participate in the program, to the application.
