Narasu’s Sarathy Institute Conducts Inter – Collegiate Workshop

A one day inter – collegiate workshop on “Knowledge Discovery – WEKA” was conducted at Narasu’s Sarathy Institute of Technology, Poosaripatti near here on September 17, 2011.

L. Arockium, Assistant Professor, Computer Science Department, St. Joesph’s College, Trichy, in his key – note address spoke on WEKA ( Waikato Environment for Knowledge Analysis ) and its use in data mining.

Software

He also explained that scientists at the Waikato University, New Zealand created this Java based Machine Learning Software for knowledge analysis and data mining. He accompanied by his team members V. Arul Kumar and S. Charles introduced the concepts of data mining and KDD ( Knowledge Discovery in Database ).

The vital information provided by the speakers enlightened the participants and made them come up with innovative ideas of their own for Knowledge Discovery.

Research Students

About 50 postgraduate and research students from nine colleges attended the workshop. The afternoon session consisted of hands on training in data mining using WEKA ( Waikato Environment for Knowledge Analysis ) toolkits.

Narasu’s Sarathy College signs MoU with AETS

To enhance the skills of students, Narasu’s Sarathy Institute of Technology, Pooaripatti, near here, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Astute Ecesis Technology and Solutions (AETS), Chennai, on Monday.

Managing Director P. Mohana Poorani and CEO P. Bhuvaneshwari from AETS signed the MoU with College Chairman R.P.Sarathy and Vice-Chairman G. Prabhakaran.

College correspondent and Educational Consultant Jaya Prakash A.Gandhi, Principal K. Raja, faculty and students took part in the function in which speakers asked the students to make use of the opportunities provided by such facilities inside the college campus.

The officials from AETS detailed the objective behind the signing of MoU with the college.

Be Prepared

They asked the students to develop their skills.

The industrial needs were high and demanding and the students should be well prepared to meet them.

The expectations in the fields of logical and reasoning and the ability of the students to accept the changes and to adapt to them were the need of the hour.

The company, they said, would ensure providing live projects, internship and the needed support to the students.
