Andhra Pradesh Selected for NTSE Exam 2013

Five students of Narayana Educational Institutions have been selected for National Talent Search Examination – 2013 level – II. The students are studying in various institutions of the Narayana Group in Krishna district.

The school management complimented the students for selecting for the examination and excelling in it.

Talent Search Contest at PPG Institute Technology

PPG Institute of Technology conducted a talent search contest for Plus – Two students. Over 300 students from various schools participated in the test that had 100 questions.

According to a release, students had to answer the questions in an hour and 30 minutes. The questions were aimed at improving the logical thinking of students and included subjects like mathematics, physics and chemistry.

The contest was held to commemorate the 125th birth anniversary of mathematical genius Srinivasa Ramanujan. The winners of the contest were awarded cash prizes and those opting to study in PPG Group of Institutions would be offered scholarships.

1,259 Rural Students take Part in Talent Search Exam

There were 1,259 participants from villages and semi – urban parts of the district for the Tamil Nadu Rural Students Talent Search Examination ( TRuST ) conducted by the Departments of Government Examination and School Education.

The examination of three – hour duration was conducted at four centres : E.R.Higher Secondary School and Khajamian Higher Secondary School in the city, Musiri Government Boy’s Higher Secondary School, and the Government Boys’ Higher Secondary School, Lalgudi.

Students in recognised schools outside city and municipality limits in the district with a score of a minimum of 50 per cent in VIII std annual examination were eligible for the examination.

The highest number of 600 students took up the examination in Musiri educational district.

There were 392 students from Lalgudi educational district, and 267 in Tiruchi educational district. Chief Educational Officer K.Selvakumar monitored the conduct of the examination in the city centres.

Featuring objective type questions, the exam is meant to identify students of high scholastic achievement in middle schools and provide them scholarships for higher studies.

Students of all government – recognised schools in rural areas are eligible for the exam.

The annual parental income of the applicants must not exceed ₹ 1 lakh. School headmasters identify potential students and facilitate them to secure the income certificates from the Tahsildhars concerned. A very nominal examination fee is collected from the students.

Every year, 50 boys and 50 girls in a revenue district are entitled to the government scholarship of ₹ 1,000 per year till they complete XII standard. They would lose eligibility in the event of being detained or discontinuing studies.

NTS Exam on 18th November, 2012

The Director of Government Examinations has notified that the first – level of National Talent Search examination for students from Class VIII to Class X will be held on 18th November, 2012.

The examination will be held in Telugu, Hindi, Urdu and English languages at all 23 district head quarters between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The examination fee is ₹ 100 and applications can be downloaded from ‘www.ncert.nic.in’ or from ‘www.bseap.org’.

Students should submit the applications to their respective schools by 31st August, 2012 and last date for the school authorities to submit the completed applications, along with DDs, at the DEO offices by 1st September, 2012, the release said.

Coaching Classes for NTSE

Nehru Children’s Cultural Association will commence its preparation course for National Talent Search Examination ( NTSE ) conducted by National Council of Educational Research and Training ( NCERT ) from 15th September, 2012 and continue till 18th November, 2012.

The classes will be held on Saturdays ( from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. ) and on Sundays ( from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. ) at P.S. Higher Secondary School, 215 Ramakrishna Mutt Road, Mylapore.

Students will be taken to University of Madras, Indian Institute of Technology – Madras, and Anna University for lecture demonstrations.

Subjects to be taught for NTSE – Mental Ability, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, History & Geography and Biology. There will be a separate coaching for Mathematics Olympiad for students of Classes 5 to 7.
