Nature Study Programs for Students

The Youth Hostels Association of India, Margao, will take a Goa nature study and trekking programme, 2009, to the picturesque Netravali in Sanguem taluk of Goa from December 27 to December 31.

Netravali is recognised as one of the top 10 biodiversity spots of the world.

The programme is aimed at inculcating the spirit of adventure and to develop the love for nature among students and help create awareness of natural conservation in society, said the organisation in a press release here on Wednesday.

The camp will be located at Netravali which lies amid the majestic Sahyadri Western Ghats. Here, the green clad mountain ranges, which protect the Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary, are abundant in wildlife, a variety of flora and fauna, streams and famous waterfalls such as the Sawari, the Maynapi and the Palli, which can be trekked through dense forests.

Mountains, including the Chand Surya and the Todov, attract the adventure lovers during the trail.

The Goa nature study and trekking programme, 2009, offers exciting discoveries in trekking, rock climbing, rappelling, adventure activities, stargazing and nature study. The programme is designed to suit school students. Experienced resource persons will share valuable learning about various aspects of environment. Those in the age group of 10-15 can take part.
