National seminar to take stock of economic reforms
A national seminar on “Two decades of economic reforms in India” will be held at Nehru Arts and Science College here on 22 February, 2011 & 23 February, 2011.
Detailed deliberations on the implications of the reform on agrarian, industrial, financial, external and service sectors in the emerging economic and technological environment will held on the two days, A. Ashokan, organising secretary and Professor of Economics, said at a press conference here on 18 February, 2011. Prabhat Patnaik, Vice – Chairman of the State Planning Board, will inaugurate the seminar.
K.P. Prabhakaran Nair, Senior Fellow, Alexander von Humboldt Research Foundation, Germany, and agriculture scientist, will deliver the keynote address on “Two decades of reforms – whither Indian Agriculture” prior to the inaugural session.
D. Shyjan, Assistant Professor of Economics, Dr. John Mathai Centre, University of Calicut, will speak on “Economic reforms and service sector.” K.S. Hari, Assistant Professor in Economics, Central University of Kerala, will initiate talks on “Economic reforms and industrial sector.”
On day two, C. Veeramani, Associate Professor, Indira Gandhi Institute for Development Research, Mumbai, and V.B. Jugale, Professor of Economics, Shivaji University, Kolhapur, Maharashtra, will speak on “Economic reforms and financial sector.”
The valedictory session will be followed by cultural programmes.
