Aerowings Summer Camp at Nehru College

Nehru Group of Institutions will organise a one – week special summer camp ‘Aerowings 2013’ from 3rd June, 20138th June, 2013.

According to a release, the camp will be held at the Kuniamuthur campus from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on all days. Students who have secured more than 60 per cent in Plus – Two are eligible to attend the camp. The camp is designed to make students aware of the opportunities in the aviation sector.

Resource persons from the aviation industry and organisations will deliver lectures on familiarisation of aircraft, airframe and systems, instruments of aircraft, radio navigation, etc. Students will also receive practical training on the aircraft that the college has.

Nehru Institutions Honour Meritorious Teachers

Nehru Group of Institutions honoured meritorious teachers with the P.K. Das Memorial Best Faculty Award and Lifetime Achievement Award to commemorate the Founder’s Day on 15th December, 2012.

As many as 25 faculty belonging to 17 disciplines under the arts and science, management, and engineering domains, were awarded the best faculty award for 2012 – 13.

Three faculty were honoured with Lifetime Achievement Awards. They were T. Tamizh Chelvam from Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli, for mathematics, M. Selvam from Alagappa University, Karaikudi, for management, and N. Mathivanan from Madurai Kamaraj University, for engineering.

V.N. Rajasekharan Pillai, executive Vice President and Principal Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, the Chief Guest, handed over the awards and addressed the gathering.

R. Jayaraman, Member Secretary, Centre for Entrepreneurship Development, Tamil Nadu, highlighted the role of teachers in instilling entrepreneurial skills in students.

B. Ilango, former Vice – Chancellor of Bharathiar University, and P. Krishna Kumar, Chief Executive Officer, and Secretary of Nehru Group of Institutions, felicitated. P. Krishna Das, Managing Trustee, presided over the function.

Two – Day Inter – School Competition at Nehru College

Nehru Group of Institutions will conduct ‘Esistenza’, an Inter – School Cultural, Literary and Technical Competition for Students of Standards X to XII studying in Tamil Nadu and Kerala Coimbatore on 18th October, 2012 and 19th October, 2012.

The competitions for schools in Kerala will be held on 18th October, 2012 and those in Tamil Nadu will be held on 19th October, 2012.

The venue is Nehru Arts and Science College.

The competition will include 25 events. Cash awards worth ₹ 10 lakh can be won.

Applications invited for Nehru Faculty Awards

The Nehru Group of Institutions has instituted Best Faculty Awards and Life Time Achievement Award 2011 in memory of its founder P.K. Das. Applications are invited from eligible candidates for selection.

A total of 40 awards will be given away. The award for best faculty will carry a purse of 10,000, a memento, and a certificate of excellence. The award for life time achievement will carry a purse of ₹ 25,000, a memento and a certificate of excellence.

Twelve awards will be given to juniors and seniors in various branches of engineering such as aeronautical, mechanical, computer science and engineering, electrical and electronics engineering and civil engineering, and four will be presented to juniors and seniors of MBA and MCA disciplines.

As many as 22 awards will go to faculty members of languages, microbiology / biotechnology, commerce, physics, chemistry, mathematics and social work. Two awards will be given to faculty in pharmacy.

The age limit for senior faculty is 35 years and above, and for the juniors it is below 35 years.

Those wishing to apply for the life time achievement award should be from the Indian Institutes of Management, Indian Institutes of Technology, Indian Institutes of Science, and Government university faculty members. They should be above 50 years of age and have 20 years or more of experience.

The award function will be held at Nehru Gardens, Thirumalayampalayam, on December 15, 2011.

Last date for submission of filled in applications is November 15, 2011.
