New College for Animation and Gaming Courses

The Media Arts and Science College (MASC), Chennai, will be offering degree-level courses in animation and gaming from the coming academic year in June. Diploma courses will start in March. The college located at Neelankarai near Chennai was inaugurated by IT Minister Poongodhai Aladi Aruna on Thursday.

The Minister provided the first admission kit to E. Kothandapani, a physically-challenged person, at the function.

Providing details of the college programs, college director Valliappan Raju said the institute would offer three-year B.Sc. courses in animation and gaming with 20 enrolments each, a two-year M.Sc: Animation course with one year at MASC and one year in studios with 20 enrolments, and a diploma course of one-year duration with 40 enrolments.

Candidates with Plus-Two as basic qualification can take the diploma and undergraduate courses, while candidates for the masters’ degree should have a related degree from a recognised university.

MASC has partner universities in the United Kingdom and Malaysia, and final-year students in both the UG and the PG programs will visit the partner universities in the final year for hands-on experience and practical training. Diploma students will have three months’ training in Malaysia and three months’ internship in studios in India.

Students will be provided training using Edusat, and video-conferencing facilities will be used in the interactive classrooms; Mr. Raju said. The course fee will be around Rs.2 – 4 lakh for a student. For more information, contact 9566003476.
