New Set of National Council of Educational Research and Training ( NCERT ) Textbooks Ready for release

To promote activity – based learning, reduce curricular burden and examination stress and link life at school with experiences at home, the National Council of Educational Research and Training ( NCERT ) on Saturday announced that it is ready for the release of its new set of textbooks.
In line with the National Curriculum Framework-2005, the new textbooks will be introduced in Classes I, III, VI, IX and XI at schools affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education and will be released by Union Human Resources Development Minister Arjun Singh this coming Wednesday. In remaining classes — II, IV, V, VII, VIII, X and XII – the textbooks already in use will continue.
According to an NCERT release, through these new text books the council has made a serious effort to provide inter – disciplinary linkages so that students understand issues and do not just memorize data.
All the text books have been prepared by teams consisting of scholars with the experience of working with children and practicing teachers. Care has been taken to make designing and production attractive and the style simple and direct,” noted the release adding that the txt of books in all subjects is available on website: www.ncert.nic.in
