New Vice-Chancellor for Mother Teresa Women’s University in Kodaikanal

Former Madras University professor Aruna Sivakami Ananthakrishnan has been appointed Vice-Chancellor of Mother Teresa Women’s University in Kodaikanal.

Dr. Ananthakrishnan, whose field of specialisation is ethics in health administration, taught at Madras University’s Department of Politics and Public Administration for 32 years.

She will be at the helm of Tamil Nadu’s only women’s university for three years.

Courses

Mother Teresa Women’s University, established in 1984, has 12 departments and offers courses in several unique subjects, including Family Life Management, Women’s Studies, Guidance and Counselling, Gerontological Studies, Herbal Medicine and Human Rights, apart from more conventional areas.

During her tenure, Dr. Ananthakrishnan hopes to take up an infrastructure development project, continue existing science and building projects, and also take up activities to expand the inter-disciplinary nature of the programmes offered, possibly with international cooperation.
