Science Camp for Students

A five – day science camp for students will begin at the Nirmala College, Muvattupuzha, on 11th January, 2011.

The residential camp, ‘INSPIRE’ internship – will have 150 students of Plus I and Plus II courses selected from different districts of the State. Those students who have secured more than 80 per cent marks in the Class X examination were selected for the camp, the organisers said.

INSPIRE is one of the innovative programs supported by the Department of Science and Technology to attract young talents to study science and thereby strengthen the nation’s science and technology base.

The Union government had earmarked Rupee1,979.25 crore for the program during the 11th plan period.

Eminent nuclear scientist P.K. Iyengar will inaugurate the program on 11th January, 2011 at 10 a.m. and deliver the first lecture. Fr. Thomas Malekudy, manager of the college, will preside.

Renowned scientists S. Krishnagopal, K.L. Sebastian and E.D. Jemmis are among the invited speakers. They will also interact with the students.
