Panjab University extends Admission form Submission Date
Panjab University has extended the deadline for submission of forms for admission to all its departments to 9th July, 2012. Following a series of protests on the campus by various student bodies, the university officials took this decision on 6th July, 2012.
Members of Student’s Organization of Panjab University ( SOPU ) and Panjab University Students Union ( PUSU ) have been staging protests for the extension of dates for admissions.
“Each year the university gives about 15 days to fill the admission forms, but this year the OCET results were declared on 25th June, 2012 and last date for submitting forms was 2nd July, 2012. Scores of students were left out in the process as they could not fill forms in time,” said Manoj Lubana, a Student Leader.
Meanwhile, PUSU members staged agitation over extension of dates as well as reduction of seats MA English and Ancient History subjects.
Panjab University Student Union Help Desks for Newly Admitted Students
Panjab University student organizations are all set to put up their help desks to guide the newly admitted students and those inquiring for admissions.
The ritualistic installation of help desks has been an annual feature on the campus, this year the process is likely to kick start next week. Even as the online admission process has been a setback for the student leaders to “advertise” their organization to the new comers, the student representatives are making the most of opportunities available to them.
“We have been finding innovative ways to woo voters and tell them more about our organizations this year. Since most admissions are now online, it is a tough task to figure out ways to reach out to freshly admitted students or those aspiring to get admissions, since they are our key vote bank during elections,” says Sumit, a Supporter of Panjab University Students Union. Meanwhile a series of protests are being carried on campus by student organizations to make their presence felt at this time of the year.
September each year, the student elections are scheduled for all PU affiliated colleges and wooing the voters is always a concern for most student bodies.
Only a few days ago, members of Student’s Organization of Panjab University ( SOPU ) protested on the issue of single window enquiry that has become a problem for the students. The student representatives alleged that the entry pass was not issued to them to enter the administrative block of the varsity.
