Professional Colleges inaugurated at Coimbatore
Professional School of Engineering, Professional School of Management and Professional School of Computer Applications were inaugurated here on Sunday.
K. Karunakaran, Vice-Chancellor, Anna University of Technology, Coimbatore, inaugurated the engineering college. C. Swaminathan, Vice- Chancellor, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, inaugurated the management institution.
C. Kannan, General Manager, Central Bank of India, Chennai, declared open the computer applications college. Run by the Professional Educational Trust, the colleges are on the Coimbatore-Tiruchi highway, near Palladam.
Mr. Karunakaran said the colleges had come up at a time when India was emerging as an education hub. He also spoke about colleges setting up placement cell and centres of excellence.
M. Swaminathan said the Professional School of Engineering signing MoUs with a couple of institutions showed its commitment towards improving engineering education.
T. Stalin Gunasekaran of Makkal Sindhanai Peravai, Erode, inaugurated the central library and said it should serve as the nerve centre and nucleus of the institutions. He urged the faculty to encourage the students to often visit library.
Mr. Kannan said the banks’ branches in Chennai zone had lent Rs. 370 crore as education loan in the last financial year.
C. Subramaniam, president and Managing Trustee, Professional Educational Trust, said the aim of starting the colleges was to provide quality education to students.
