PSG Institute of Technology to host ‘Anu Week’
The PSG College of Technology will host ‘Anu Week’ celebrations of the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Union Government, here, from February 15 to 19.
J. Daniel Chellappa, Head, Technical Co-ordination and Public Awareness Cell, Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, told reporters here on Thursday that the main objective of the celebrations was to make school and college students and the general public understand and appreciate better the Indian Nuclear Programme.
The week is celebrated every year in different institutions. “There is always a negative opinion about nuclear energy. The events that will form part of the five-day celebrations will try to dispel this wrong notion,” R. Rudramoorthy, principal of the college, said.
With the theme “Nuclear Energy for Global Edge,” the celebrations would include exhibition, workshop, competions on elocution, quiz, cartoon, and essay writing.
Exhibitions will showcase equipment of non-destructive evaluation, research and development opportunities for students in DAE, etc.
It would also have contributions from school and college students. The exhibition would be open for the general public.
A three-day workshop would be organised for school science educators.
The other competitions would be open for students from Standard VIII to post-graduation.
