Global meet on technology
The Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology (RIT) will organise an International conference on recent innovations in technology at Hotel Aida here from February 10, 2011.
Yegnanarayana B., professor and Microsoft chair, Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Hyderabad, inaugurated the three-day event.
Delivering the keynote address, Prof. Yegnanarayana elaborated on the concept of human intelligence and machine intelligence.
“A fundamental distinction is that while humans can process data and subsequently represent them, machines follow a reversed mechanism. Another unique trait in humans is their ability to provide selective attention, notwithstanding what the matter is. This feature is yet to be simulated in machines and will require further research in order to achieve this end,” he said.
Principal J.T. Kuncheria who presided over the meet observed that such conferences would provide momentum in knowledge gaining and promote valuable interactions between students of various backgrounds.
He also said that research work should be an integral part of education. “It has the ability to complement the process of imparting knowledge. Well – equipped laboratories are a necessity in this regard,” he said.
