Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha gets Yoga Therapy Centre
Yoga therapy centre was inaugurated at the Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha in Tirupati by its Chancellor and the former Chief Minister of Orissa, Janaki Ballav Patnaik, last week.
The centre was formally declared open by Dr. Patnaik during his visit to the varsity after assuming office as the Chancellor.
The centre was established to run the course PG Diploma in Yoga Therapy and Stress Management, sanctioned under the UGC’s scheme for innovative programmes.
UGC had sanctioned Rs.49 lakh towards purchase of equipment and recurring expenditure, without however, sanctioning any new teaching posts. Admissions are currently in progress to fill the 25 seats earmarked for the course.
The one-and-a-half-year course will have one year study and internship for the next six-month period. Admission is open to all, while preference will be given to those having knowledge of Sanskrit.
The Vidyapeetha will soon be signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SVIMS University for extension of the trained Yoga therapists for internship in the neighbouring medical university.
Application Form Submission 16 Dec 2020 to 16 Jan 2021.
