Revised AICTE Pay for Teachers being examined
Minister for Higher Education Arvind Limbavali said on Sunday that the State Government was examining a proposal to implement revised All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) pay scale for teachers of government and aided engineering colleges in the State.
He was addressing teachers at the annual convention of the Association of Mangalore University College Teachers (AMUCT) here. ‘Funds Needed’ He said once teachers of government and aided engineering colleges were given the revised AICTE pay scale, those in polytechnic colleges would be considered for it in the second stage.
However, for teachers of polytechnic colleges, the Government would have to pay the revised pay scale. It needed additional funds for it.
The Government had to follow the guidelines of AICTE to pay salary to teachers in polytechnic colleges.
The Minister expressed displeasure at the AICTE for changing the number of seats sanctioned to engineering colleges in the State while counselling for those who had appeared for the Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by the Government was in progress.
Later addressing at Sahyadri Engineering College, the Minister alleged that the AICTE was changing the intake every two days. “The AICTE should understand that it is not a child’s play,” he said.
