Sankar Foundation launches B.Sc Course in Optometry
A Program Study Centre for B.Sc HOT (optometry) course was inaugurated at the Sankar Foundation by chairman of Pydah educational institutions Pydah Krishna Prasad on Tuesday.

The course, launched for the first time in the State, is being offered by Sankar Foundation in association with Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).
Mr. Krishna Prasad hoped that the foundation would attain great heights by starting a number of other courses, which would help in improving the quality of health care to the poor. He congratulated the foundation on its initiative.
Regional Director of IGNOU S. Mohanan spoke on the job-oriented courses offered by IGNOU for the benefit of students.
The quality and standards followed by IGNOU were the best in the country, and the enthusiasm and dedication of the staff, coupled with the infrastructure available at Sankar Foundation, were the reasons for choosing the foundation for offering the course.
Chief Executive Officer of Sankar Foundation K. Arun said that B.Sc. HOT (optometry) four-year distance education course would help in turning out fully qualified ophthalmic officers, who could handle even the most advanced instruments of ophthalmology.
The course was a boon not only to new candidates but also to existing diploma holders in the field to hone their skills. He said that eight students had already been admitted.
He said that the foundation was planning to start vocational training courses in bio-medical equipment maintenance and advanced ophthalmic instruments operations in association with IGNOU – ISTE.
