Sankara College of Science and Commerce signs a Mou with VETA Corporation

The Sankara College of Science and Commerce signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with VETA Corporation here recently to develop the communication skill of students.

Speaking at the function, G Thiruvasagam, Vice-Chancellor, Bharathiar University, said the universities and colleges should produce employable graduates.

Stating that around 2.5 million graduates remain unemployed in the country, he said the figure may increase manifold by 2010. According to McKenzie report, only 25 percent of the graduates in the country are eligible for jobs in multinational companies, he said, and advised the students to speak English on campus and improve their efficiency in the language. T P Ramachandran, secretary of the college, asked the students to fully utilise the training programme to enhance their career prospects.

Major K V Rajan, executive director, said VETA with over 200 centres in India and abroad will make the students employable. Prof. P Murugesan, principal, welcomed the gathering. Prof. J Srikant, director of SIMS, proposed a vote of thanks.
