Teachers told to ensure quality education in schools
Primary and High School Education Minister Vishveshwara Hegde Kageri asked the DDPI and BEOs to initiate stringent action against erring teachers and staff, including those who came to schools drunk.
He was conducting a review of the progress achieved by the Education Department at the Old Assembly Hall here on Friday. Cases relating to misbehaviour, long absenteeism and other charges should be viewed seriously, he said.
The DDPI and the BEOs should crack the whip mercilessly as the Education Department should not earn a bad reputation, Mr. Kageri said. He exhorted the teaching fraternity in Kodagu to adopt all measures to enhance the quality of education in the schools in the district.
The State Government was providing adequate funds to better the system of education in the State.
The School Development and Monitoring Committees (SDMCs) too had a greater role to play.
Teachers should lay stress on maintaining a cordial relationship between the teachers, parents and the school.
The Minister laid emphasis on conducting extracurricular activities in schools to increase creativity among children.
For instance EDUSAT Programs and radio programs could come in handy. Officials from the cluster resource centres, block resource centres of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, DDPI and BEOs should visit the schools often to review how they functioned, he pointed out.
He asked the education department officials to shift the students from four schools in the district with strength of less than five students to nearby schools.
