Over 70,000 Students take part in Inter – School Contest

Elite Circle’s ‘Clinic Plus Gateway 2012′ competition in the city for schoolchildren from across the country reportedly broke three records. According to K. Pradeep Kumar, Founder and President, Elite Circle, the event that saw over 70,000 students participate in over 19 competitions, has broke three records – largest one – day art competition, largest one – day writing competition and largest literary and cultural meet.

Elite Circle had conducted ‘Gateway’ on Saturday at the CODISSIA Trade Fair Complex.

Mr. Kumar said that the 13th edition of the event had students from the Lower Kindergarten to Plus Two participating in drawing, essay writing, caption writing, story writing, group dance, talent hunt and other events.

The organisers had given away 7,847 prizes at the district level, State level, South India level and national level.

Mr. Kumar said that 35,460 students helped the organisers break the largest one – day art competition record, 8,251of them in the largest one – day writing competition category and 72,459 in the largest literary and cultural event category.

He said that adjudicators from the Asian Records Academy had issued the certificates for the three records at the event, after they made a count of the participants at the venue.

The organisers had facilitated it using biometric entry system.

He added that students from 8,543 schools from 21 States participated in the competitions.

The Eco Club of SBOA Public School, South Chittoor has taken up an innovative project ‘Love Plastics’ for this academic year. School Principal T. K Latha inaugurated the programme. Under the project, students will collect plastics, segregate them according to microns and give them for recycling under the guidance of the Eco Club.

Conservation campaign

The SNV Sanskrit Higher Secondary School, North Paravur, conducted an awareness campaign on energy conservation. The campaign was carried out by the National Green Corps unit of the school, in association with the Road Safety Club, BPCL Encon Club. As part of the campaign, leaflets exhorting motorists to become partners in energy conservation by driving slow was distributed at petrol pumps and busy junctions in Paravur town. School Principal P. R. Latha inaugurated an energy conservation rally. NGC coordinator V. P. Anoop and Road Safety Club convener C. K. Biju led the rally.

Scrabble contest

Krishna Das S. Nair and Madhav Gopi of Bhavan’s Adarsha Vidyalaya won the 3rd EWA Evergreen Inter-school scrabble competition in the senior category held recently. Paulson Paul and Vivek I. Mathai of Choice School won in the junior category. The winners emerged out of a field of 38 teams. Swetha Kurian and Arundhathi Menon of Bhavan’s Varuna Vidyalaya and Yusuf Ali and Shihel Jinna of Al Ameen Public School came second and third in the senior category. Among juniors, Joseph Jacob and Eleesa Sara of Choice School and Roshan Babu and Naveen Mathew of Rajagiri Public School emerged in the second and third positions.

Grandparents’ Day

St. Paul’s International Kindergarten School, Kalamassery, celebrated Grandparents’ Day last month. Prof. M.V. Pylee inaugurated the event. School Director Douglas Pinheiro and Principal Susan Mohan presided. A variety of programmes were staged in this connection even as grandparents actively participated in various games. Some of them shared their memories with the audience.
