Andhra Pradesh Selected for NTSE Exam 2013

Five students of Narayana Educational Institutions have been selected for National Talent Search Examination – 2013 level – II. The students are studying in various institutions of the Narayana Group in Krishna district.

The school management complimented the students for selecting for the examination and excelling in it.

Coaching for Talent Search Exam

The National Talent Search ( NTS ) and National Means – cum – Merit Scholarship ( NMMS ) examinations for 2011 – 12 have attracted 2,182 applicants from Tiruchi district.

For the eligible candidates in Std. VIII constituting 1,389 applicants for NMMS and 793 for NTS, the school education department has arranged for a special coaching on November 12, 2011 ( Saturday ) at Bishop Heber Higher Secondary School, Teppakulam.

Eminent resource persons are to offer the NTSE training under the supervision of the Director of Government Examinations Vasundaradevi. Candidates belonging to Dindigul, Pudukottai, Karur, Perambalur and Ariyalur can also derive benefit from the programme.

They have to be escorted by guardians, the Chief Educational Officer of Tiruchi T. Mohana Kumar said in a press release.

The NTS examination is meant for students in schools recognised by Central and State governments. They should have scored 60 per cent and above in Std. VII.

For NMMS, the candidates are drawn from Government, Corporation, Municipality and government – aided schools.

Annual income of parents should not exceed ₹ 1.5 lakh, and they should have scored 55 per cent ( 50 per cent for SC / ST candidates ) in Std. VII.

The NTSE Pattern of written test to be conducted on November 20, 2011 is the same for both categories. Part One from 9.30 a.m. to 11.00 a.m. will be on mental ability and part Two from 11.30 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. on Scholastic Aptitude.

Students succeeding in NTSE NMMS examinations are entitled to get ₹ 1,000 per year till they complete their higher education. The NTSE Examination fee is ₹ 50.

Examination centres for NTS are Government Girls’ HSS, Musiri; Govt. Boys’ HSS, Lalgudi; Khajamian HSS, and S.M.HSS, Woraiyur. For NMMS, the centres are St. Philomenas Girls HSS, UDV HSS; SNP Girls’ HSS, Lalgudi; and Govt. Boys’ HSS, Musiri.

In another press release, the Regional Deputy Director of Government Examinations S. Lakshmi said that hall tickets for NTS and NMMS examinations have been sent to students through their respective schools.

Candidates for NMMS examination could get in touch with the offices of the District Educational Officer / Chief Educational Officer concerned in case they do not receive their hall tickets before the aforementioned date.

Students are expected to be at the examination hall half an hour in advance. Only blue or black ballpoint pen must be used, the release said.

Training Sessions for Talent Search Exam

Special training sessions will be held for those taking the State Level National Talent Search Examination and National Means – cum – Merit Scholarship Scheme on November 20, 2011, states an official release.

According to the Directorate of Government Exams, special training will be imparted free of cost to students studying in class VIII in government and government – aided schools from 9.30 a.m. to 1 p.m in Villupuram on November 6, 2011, Chennai on November 7, 2011, Tiruchi on November 12, 2011, and Tirunelveli on November 13, 2011.

Students can take part in the training at any of the centres.

Dr. A.S. Rao Awards Council Science Talent Exam

Dr. A.S. Rao Awards Council 24th  Science Talent Search Examination will be conducted on December 25, 2011 across the State. The test will be held in Mathematics and science as per the syllabus prescribed.

Students of eighth, ninth and tenth standards can send their applications for the examination. Last date for submission of applications is November 20, 2011 said a press release.

National Merit – cum – Means Scholarship Examination

The National Talent Search Examination and the National Merit – cum – Means Scholarship Examination will be held in all taluk centres on November 20, 2011. Separate applications for the two examinations should reach, before September 22, 2011.

Applications Invited for Educational Assistance

Applications have been invited for the selection of students for educational assistance under the National Talent Search ( NTS ) examination and the National Means-Cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme ( NMMS ) for 2011-12.

For the NTS, students of recognized schools who have passed standard VII last year with 60 per cent aggregate marks are eligible to apply. Students of standard VIII of State, Corporation, Municipal or government aided schools with an annual family income less than ₹ 1.50 lakh are eligible for the NMMS. Students of SC/ST communities should have obtained 50 per cent marks in the previous year ( standard VII ) while students of other communities should have obtained 55 per cent marks.

Applications can be obtained from the school headmasters, office of the Regional Deputy Director of Government Examinations, Tiruchi, district educational offices, office of the Chief Educational Officer or the zonal offices of Kendriya Vidyalayas.

Applications should be forwarded only through the schools. Applicants should pay an examination fee of Rs.50 at the treasuries and enclose challans with their applications.

A single application can be submitted for the two schemes by the applicants. Depending on the eligibility of candidates, assistance would be extended under one of the schemes.

Applications for the NTS should be submitted to the Office of the Regional Deputy Director of Government Examinations, Khaja Nagar, Tiruchi-20, while applications for the NMMS should be submitted to the respective district educational officers on or before August 30,2011.  according to a release from S.Lakshmi, Regional Deputy Director of Government Examinations, Tiruchi.
