Seminar Series to explore Philosophy of Education
Aimed at fostering philosophical discussions and structured debates on our current education system, Azim Premji University is organising a series of seminars on the ‘Philosophy of education’.
The focus of these seminars is on teacher education and related themes such as development of talent and creation of knowledge, which can facilitate systemic change in education.
In a press release issued by the University, the organisers invited abstracts for paper presentations at the seminar, with each abstract not exceeding 500 words.
The seminar series is the University’s first step in this direction with the hope to collaborate and connect with scholars in different Universities, in India and abroad, the release added. As part of the series, four regional seminars will be held in Jaipur, Dehra Dun, Kolkata and Puducherry in August and September this year.
International Seminar :
Following this, an International Seminar on the same lines will be held in Bangalore from 16th January, 2013 to 18th January, 2013 where established scholars in the discipline from across the world will make presentations on current issues on the subject. It will be a means to connect the debates in ‘philosophy of education’ world over to the Indian scenario and bring together a significant number of academics in the country.
To be able to encourage more young scholars, the university is also thinking in terms of a support process and academic help for the seminars.
This is important as there is a dearth of good research talent in the country, especially in this field, said the institute.
Abstracts / papers can be sent to email@example.com by 15th April, 2013 for the regional seminars and 31st July, 2013 for the international seminar.
