Shivaji University, Kolhapur Inaugurated Help Centre for Students

The students of Shivaji University, Kolhapur ( SUK ) will no longer have to move from one department to another for days to get the administrative work done. The institute on 6th October, 2013 inaugurated a facility, Vidyarthi Suvidha Kendra, for the pupil’s assistance.

The facility centre will offer “prompt solutions” to the student’s queries related to pass and merit certificates, various transcripts needed for foreign studies, document verification, work related to migration certificate and changes in names.

According to officials in the university, the queries will be solved within a day and students from the rural areas will be the ones who will be benefitted from the facility.

“We have appointed a dedicated staff of eight persons at the centre to facilitate its easy working. Earlier, the students or their parents had to move from one department to another to get their work done. Now with the ‘One Window System’, any work will be completed on the day a student approaches the centre,” SUK deputy registrar Nitin Sonaje said.

There are as many as 279 colleges from Sangli, Satara and Kolhapur which are affiliated to the SUK.

With more than 3 lakh students pursuing various courses in those colleges under several undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, the facility is going to benefit the students, particularly those coming from outside.

A university official said more than 30,000 students from these colleges pass every year from various undergraduate and postgraduate courses. But for any certificate – related work, the students have to visit the SUK campus in Kolhapur.

Nitin Mali, a student from Sangli district, said, “The facility is certainly going to help the students.”
