Over 400 Crore allotted for Siddha System of Medicine
The Central Government has allotted over 400 crore for the development of Siddha medicine system in the country, Director in-charge of Siddha Central Research Institute T. Anandan has said.
Participating at a continuing medical education program, Prism 2010, organised by the Siddhi Charitable Trust here on Sunday, Mr. Anandan said that the funds were allotted primarily to carry out research and development works and initiate concerted efforts to promote Siddha system of medicine in the country.
Steps were also taken to identify rare herbal plants and subsidies were being provided to encourage farmers to take up cultivation of herbal plants, he said.
Mr. Anandan called upon the young Siddha doctors to join together to promote the Siddha system of medicine in the country.
District Siddha Medical Officer S. Sankaralingam and Siddha doctors from various parts of the State participated in the program.
