SMS facility in Web Counselling
Students can send SMS to get their doubts cleared on the process and mobile number for sending the message will be announced in the notification to be issued soon.
Officials have prepared 85 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) based on the feedback from students and information culled out from it will be sent to candidates when they send an SMS.
New questions too can be asked but information will come in 24 hours only. Non-minority students can give options for minority colleges also and seats will be allocated if there are vacant seats after minority candidates’ numbers are exhausted.
Students this year have to sign a form after verification of certificates that they have checked documents and information was entered properly.
Last year, some students alleged that wrong information was fed leading to problems in allotment of seats.
Officials clarified that one-third seats in each category will be reserved for women while the remaining two-thirds will be available for both boys and girls.
Within each reserved category, seats for the special reservation categories are allocated like physically handicapped (3per cent), visual (1per cent), hearing (1 per cent), orthopaedic (1 per cent), NCC (1 per cent), sports (0.5%) and children of armed personnel (2 per cent).
While allotting seats, merit (rank), category, gender and local area will be considered. The allotment process will read the options exercised by a candidate in order of preference at each stage.
A candidate can give any number of options. All relevant GOs are to be followed in allocation of leftover seats and consequential vacancies.
The G.O. No. 550 that directs filling open category vacancies with same category students will be followed strictly and software has been designed suitably.
The allotment process takes care of all possible reservations of a candidate during various stages and their merit is protected at each step.
Helpline centres where certificates will be verified will provide all the information about web counselling apart from giving live demos.
