SMS helps Monitor Govt Teachers’ Attendance

Probably for the first time in the State, the attendance of government school teachers is being confirmed through an SMS to the district administration.

As per District Collector P. Amudha’s orders, all the head masters of government schools should sent a message about the attendance of teaching and non-teaching staff to the collectorate every school working day before 9.45 am.

Adhering to her announcement made during an all high and higher secondary school HMs meeting last week in Dharmapuri, the HMs started sending SMS since Monday.

Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan CEO S.Suganya told Express that the SMS should be sent to 99949 63111, which was functioning at special communication cell at the collectorate.

It may be recalled, that the Collector has given training to public welfare workers to send an SMS about the NREGS workers’ attendance before their assigned work began and an exclusive cell has been set up.

According to sources, Amudha who used to go to any government school, would inspect the toilets for maintenance. If she found that the toilets were not kept cleaned, then the suspension orders were issued to the concerned HMs.

Meanwhile, she has started issuing whip against the teachers who reportedly failed to be punctual to school. This sudden order of the SMS attendance report has has hit many teachers hard.
