In-charge VC vows to put SKU on the Road to Recovery

Sri Krishnadevaraya University in-charge Vice-Chancellor A. Ramachandra Reddy said that his top most priority is of restoring the congenial academic climate in the university and sanctity of the institute.

Mr. Reddy said the university Executive Council meeting was held on Tuesday and several decisions were taken for restoring academic order and confidence among the student community and teaching fraternity as the university had been bogged down with several problems and issues, resulting in the university’s image taking a beating.

He said that the recommendations and observations of Justice Hanumanthu will be taken into consideration for bringing normalcy in the university administration and academic functioning.

Internal committees with senior professors had been appointed for monitoring the effective functioning of the university hostels and also the department of distance education.

Mr. Reddy said that several things had been taken cognizance of, including groupism in the faculty and misusing of students by vested interests among the faculty and non-teaching staff and outsiders ruling the roost in the campus hostels etc.

All the errors will be rectified by the committees constituted for the purpose.

He said the police cleared the hostels of outside elements. About six committees had been constituted to address several issues as part of decentralisation of administration.

Administration is being toned up to check absenteeism, late reporting for duty and non-availability of teaching staff during working hours etc.

Teaching staff inciting students for fighting their causes and students interfering in administration etc had come to my notice, Mr. Reddy.

He warned that he would deal sternly if such things are repeated in the campus. Replying to a question, Mr. Reddy said that there is no political interference after he took over as Vice-Chancellor.

He also announced that the Executive Council had ratified the appointment of Prof. B. Krishna Reddy as the new in-charge Registrar of the university.

University colleges principal Prof. Jayaraj was present. Earlier, Prof. B. Krishna Reddy of the Department of Business management took charge.
