TCS Announces IT Quiz for Students

Mumbai edition of TCS IT Wiz for students of class VIII to XII announced :

Tata Consultancy Services ( TCS ), a leading IT services, consulting and business solutions firm, announced that the Mumbai edition TCS IT Wiz – India’s biggest inter school IT Quiz will be held on 14th October, 2012 ( Sunday ) at the following venue :

Indian Education Society,
Manik Sabagraha,
Opp Lilavati Hospital,
Bandra Reclamation, Mumbai.

The Mumbai edition is open to all school students studying in class 8 – 12 ( including Pre University of Junior college students ). There is no entry fee. Each institution is allowed to send multiple teams of two – members each to participate. This year the TCS IT Wiz has expanded its geographical foot print by adding two more cities from the heart of the country – Nagpur and Indore, thus making it a 14 city edition.

The Regional rounds will be followed by a National Finals in December where the winning teams from the 14 Regional rounds along with the winners of UAE edition will compete for the TCS IT Wiz National Champion title. The highlight of the TCS IT Wiz 2012 will be the launch of India’s first animation – based quiz software created by Quizmaster Pickbrain and his team. The Regional finals this year is a unique game – based format, driven by special software.

TCS IT Wiz, the biggest inter school IT Quiz programme in India, has been running for 13 consecutive years as a part the company’s Corporate Social Initiative. TCS GenY Survey :

The TCS GenY survey conducted last year during the IT Wiz 2011 Mumbai edition revealed that 95.21 % use the Internet as a source of information for research to prepare for quizzes against the national average of 78.82%. However, about 71.08% use books and publications which is higher than the national average of 59.14% while about 65.23% use newspapers for research.

Overall Quiz Format :

The written prelims are a common set of 20 questions for all the teams at the venue. Questions are in the oral, visual and audiovisual form. Participants will answer the preliminary written round on pre – printed answer sheets given by TCS.

Final :

The top six teams from the written prelim will qualify for final. Only the top scoring team from each school will be called on stage in the event of multiple teams from the same school qualify for the final. The winner from these 6 teams will represent Mumbai at the National Finals of TCS IT Wiz to be held in December.

The 2012 TCS IT Wiz Regional winners will walk away with Galaxy Note each while the runners – up will be rewarded a Galaxy Tab along with a specially designed winner’s trophy and the runner’s up trophy. The 6 finalists will also receive an array of prizes from TCS ranging from laptop backpacks, USB pen drives, coffee mugs, binoculars, earphones and T shirts.
