Sale of MBBS Applications ends 2013

Thanjavur Medical College has sold 1,627 applications for MBBS course this year. K.Mahadevan, Dean, said that of the 1,627 applications, 442 have been sold to SC candidates and 1,185 to general candidates. Sale of applications came to a close by 3 p.m. on 18th May, 2013.

Last date for sending the filled in applications is 20th May, 2013, Monday. The college received 2,000 applications for sale this year.

Thanjavur Medical College MBBS and MDS Admission 2012

Thanjavur Medical College started issuing applications for MBBS and BDS admissions for the year 2012 – 13 on 15th May, 2012. Students who have written the plus two examinations stood in long queue at the college to get the applications.

T.B.Umadevi, Dean of Thanjavur Medical College, gave the first application form to Meena from Perambalur. Meena, a Student of a Private School in Perambalur said she would definitely get medicine as she expects good marks in plus two. Dr. M.Singaravelu, Student Adviser and Paediatrician, Dr.Sivakami, Professor of Anatomy, were present. Dr. Umadevi said applications would be sold till 30th May, 2012.

Every day students could get the applications from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. On the last day of 30th May, 2012, the closing time is 3 p.m. Students have to take a Demand Draft for ₹ 500 from any nationalised bank towards the cost of application.

The DD should be drawn in favour of Secretary, Selection Committee, Kilpauk, Chennai 10. Thanjavur Medical College offers 150 seats for MBBS course every year. “We have received 700 application forms as of now. We hope to sell nearly 1,300 like last year,” Dr.Umadevi said. For SC / ST candidates, the application is provided free of cost.

But they should produce a copy of community certificate and hall ticket of the plus two examination as proof.

Two New PG Courses at Thanjavur Medical College

Two super speciality post graduate courses were inaugurated at the Thanjavur Medical College here on August 27, 2011. Saturday.

R.Vaithilingam, State Minister for Housing and Urban Development, inaugurated the courses – MCH in Neuro Surgery and MCH in Paediatric Surgery. He distributed the first admission card to Muthuraman, a MCH Neuro Surgery student, to mark the inauguration of the courses at a function held at the Medical College.

The Minister said that neuro surgery became popular only after World War II. “Thanjavur Medical College is the fourth medical college where MCH neuro surgery course has been started in the State”, Mr. Vaithilingam said. He assured all assistance to the college for expanding its departments and creating infrastructure facilities.

T.B.Uma Devi, Dean, Thanjavur Medical College, said that the college was already offering MCH in Plastic Surgery.

M.Rangaswamy, Thanjavur MLA; K. Baskaran, Collector; Ilangovan, Head of the Department, Surgery, Thanjavur Medical College; M.Singaravelu of College Paediatrics department participated in the function.
