College Plans to Set up BPO in Villupuram
It has been proposed to start a BPO ( business process outsourcing ) centre in Villupuram with a view to improving job opportunities and putting the district on the trajectory of growth, according to E.Senthil Kumar, secretary, Theivanai Ammal College for Women.
Speaking at an academic council meeting of the college here, Mr. Kumar said the college is offering at least three computer – oriented undergraduate courses with student strength of about 300.
Starting a BPO would enable them to take up jobs. Besides, they could also pursue higher studies while earning. The college has adequate infrastructure and it needed to be upgraded slightly, Mr. Kumar said.
Villupuram is two – hour drive from Meenambakkam airport and well connected by trains. The BPO would be the first of its kind in Villupuram, he added.
Theivanai Ammal College for Women already has in place the industry – institution interface programme, national – international student exchange programme and outreach programme. It has also been proposed to set up IAS – IPS Training Academy here.
