TNAU launches Website on Industrial Agroforestry
The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) has launched a new website on ‘Industrial Agroforestry in Tamil Nadu’, for the benefit of farmers involved in industrial tree cultivation.
TNAU Vice Chancellor P.Murugesa Boopathi said that the website has been launched as part of the National Agricultural Innovation Project funded by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research.
The project being implemented at an budget outlay of over 3 crore involves participation of research institutes, wood based industries, farmers and financial institutes as a consortium.
www.fcrinaip.org has been designed incorporating the details about the project, consortium partners, project operational areas, cluster level farmers information, innovative technologies, market information and value addition.
The website offers various services for the benefit of farmers including tree growers, pulp wood and match wood industries and non governmental organisations involved in the promotion of industrial tree cultivation. According to the VC, it is a repository of advanced forestry technologies offering guidance to practise contract tree farming systems, provides price and market information on major pulp and match wood species and acts as a platform for those interested in venturing into agro processing industries, particularly briquetting technologies and other value addition processes.
