Students should not be too crazy about the Information Technology (IT) sector. They should explore other avenues in engineering.

Scope

They too have good scope for making one successful, R. Radhakrishnan, Vice-Chancellor of Anna University, Coimbatore, said here recently.

Inaugurating P.A. College of Engineering and Technology at Puliampatty, near Pollachi, he said that education should be seen as a tool that helped prepare one to face the challenges of the world and also to match the pace of changes.

“The Coimbatore Anna University covers eight districts. It is heartening to see that more colleges are coming up,” the Vice-Chancellor said.

He urged students to focus on innovating. “The university has taken up the responsibility of obtaining patents for at least 100 innovations by the end of 2009”.

He distributed financial assistance to two students who had secured more than 190 in engineering aggregate.

P. Appukutty, Chairman, Aruljothi Charitable Trust, Lakshmi Appukutty, Trustee, Poongothai Arul Ramesh, Correspondent of the college, and R.K. Suresh, principal, were present.
