Conference on Earthquake and Structural Engineering

The Department of Civil Engineering of V.L.B. Janakiammal College of Engineering and Technology will conduct a conference on “Earthquake and Structural Engineering” on September 15 and 16, 2011.

Forum

According to a press release issued here, the conference will serve as a forum at which specialists, Government officials and non-Government representatives involved in earthquake engineering and relevant fields will exchange the latest research results and technologies.

Students of civil engineering branches, research scholars, and practising civil engineers can participate and present their views, receive awareness on earthquake disaster and avoid damages caused by its effects.

International Conference on Civil Engineering

VLB Janakiammal College of Engineering and Technology will conduct an international conference here from January 7 to 9 on “Advances in Materials and Techniques in Civil Engineering”.

According to a release from the college, the focus is on new and green materials, and technologies that will be introduced in construction industry for residential and commercial buildings.

Practising professionals and researchers from different countries will present their findings and share their experiences.

About 100 delegates will present their research findings and 11 of them are from well-known Universities abroad such as South Dakota Schoolof Mines and Technology, RMIT University, National University of Singapore and Curtin University.

The conference is supported by the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, The Institution of Engineers (India), Coimbatore chapter, Defence Research and Development Organisation and Indian Space Research Organisation.

V. Ramakrishnan, Professor Emeritus, of Department of Civil Engineering, South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, will inaugurate the conference.

The keynote lectures will be on “Unique Traffic of India”, “Numerical and Experimental Studies of Concrete Damage Modelling”, Development of New Construction Materials, and “Evolving Trends in Truss Systems”.
