LabView, a short form of Laboratory Virtual Instrumentation Engineering Workbench, is a platform and development environment for a visual programming language from National Instruments, Bangalore.
The purpose is to automate the use of equipment and instruments used in the process control and instrumentation.
It is commonly used for data acquisition, instrument control, and industrial automation on a variety of platforms including Microsoft Windows, UNIX, and Linux etc.
The graphical approach allows non – programmers to build programs by dragging and dropping virtual representation of lab equipment with which they are already familiar.
The LabView programming environment with the included examples and the documentation makes it simple to create small applications.
Advanced versions of LabView are also available. They also offer the possibility of building standalone applications, a press release from the Principal adds.
